Personal data in the media sphere: the specifics of work

Abstract

The protection of personal data in the media at the modern stage of technological development is a challenging task with many aspects that must be observed according to the legislation of the Russian Federation. The most pressing problems related to the collection, storage, use and protection of personal data in the media are considered. We make the systematization of the main stages in the history of the development of legislation in the field of personal data protection in Russia and abroad, an analysis was made of modern methods of processing, storing and transferring personal data in various countries of the world. The legislative acts of the Russian Federation, which apply to certain algorithms for the work of mass media with personal data, are considered separately. We analyze in detail the domestic judicial practice on cases of incorrect processing of personal data in the media. Based on the results of the generalization of analytical and statistical materials, methods for protecting data during their collection, processing and storage at various stages of media production are proposed. The recommendations received can be used in the practice of media editorial work and in the blogosphere.
