Oriental values of academic culture (based on the example of China)
Abstract
Basic directions of development of higher education in the countries of Asia on the modern stage are reviewed. The systems of higher education of Asian countries demonstrate the significant growth, and separate universities even reach the leading positions in international universities rates, claim to get the status of universities of world class. The most significant dynamics is demonstrated in the Institutes of Higher Education of China and Japan the prospective strategies of development of national systems of higher education in other countries are developed. The changes in systems of higher education of Asian countries are connected, first of all, with the realization of global tendencies: globalization, internationalization, formation of society of knowledge and etc. The significant changes in the sphere of higher education lead to transformation of value basements of academic cultures. Asian Institutes of Higher Education on the one hand adopt Western values of higher education, on the other hand they try to save the national specifics of academic culture. At the same time the significant difficulties of realization of some basic values of higher education, first of all academic freedom as a leading value of higher education. The special attention is paid to modern state of academic culture of China, where system of education is developing more dynamic.
